Hair hates heat. Controversial, we know, but it’s true! As useful as heat may be, steering clear of it can do wonders for your mane. That’s why we put together this heat-free cheat sheet of three gorgeous styles!
Beach babe waves
Can’t make it to the beach? This is the next best thing. All you need is curling mousse and salt spray to get started.
Step 1: Get salty
Apply your fave curling mousse and salt spray to dry hair, from root to tip.
Step 2: Get it twisted
Twirl small section of hair into tight ringlets. Depending on how much hair you have, 6–8 twists on either side of your head should to the trick.
Step 3: You’re done
Seriously, it’s that easy. While you wait for the product to dry, finish getting ready, read a book, pet a dog, the choice is yours. In just a few short minutes, you’ll be ready to unleash your beauty on the unsuspecting world, henny!
Loose, natural curls
Got lots of locks? Looking for something low effort? This one’s for you. You’re going to need freshly washed hair, flexible hold hairspray, and some elastics.
Step 1: Dry your ‘do
Now that you’re squeaky clean, let your hair air dry for a while. If you’re in a rush, use a towel to ring out the excess water. You’ll need damp hair for this style.
Step 2: The braidy bunch
Once your hair is nice and damp, part it how you normally would and start braiding. We’re not going for anything fancy here, a basic braid will do.
Step 3: Space buns
Roll your braids into buns and secure them with elastics. Get in touch with your inner Princess Leia.
Step 4: Sleep on it
Grab your jammies, and hit the hay. You’re done for today.*
*This part is optional, but the longer you keep your braids in buns, the more structured your curls will be. If you’re a busy boss babe who’d rather let their buns chill while you finish getting ready, that’s cool too.
Step 5: Come undone
Unravel your buns, and gently break those braids with your fingers. Spray a lil flexible hold hairspray and you’re set!
Need to keep your hair out of your face? The ribbon pony is the best way to tame your mane. See what we did there? All you need for this one is a hair tie and a ribbon.
Step 1: Air dry!
To get the right texture for this look, you’ll need to start with freshly-washed, air dried hair.
Step 2: Tie it up
Secure your ponytail just above the nape of your neck (or wherever feels most comfortable).
Step 3: Accessorize
You could stop at Step 2, but where’s the fun in that? Pick your fave fun ribbon and tie a bow around your tail. Now you’re set to hit the old town road, pardner.
